Mrs. Koehler is a professional
educator holding a Master of Science in Education. Her longtime tenure with
the Little Rock School District as a teacher, Director of Girl's Athletics
and School Administrator has afforded her an opportunity to gain vast experience
in the instruction of Elementary, Secondary and College Students.
A teacher of piano for 15 years Mrs. Koehler taught
at the Bob Boyd Music Academy where she was named "Dean Emeritus of
Keyboard Studies." For the last 7 years she has taught at Sigler Music
Studios.
Her teaching philosophy is simple:
"Learning takes place quicker
if it is rewarding and fun.
Students learn to read music through traditional
teaching methods. The music included from the outset of the program is music
students recognize. A variety of music types including classical, rock,
jazz, boogie, gospel and pop make up the curriculum. Practice, effort and
accomplishment are acknowledged weekly through a unique "Point system."
Reaching the required number of points results in the awarding of one of
the following: Trophies, medals, ribbons, and prizes.
Awards are given throughout the year, not just
at the end of the year; and the type of award the student receives is dependent
on the difficulty of the accomplishment. This motivates students to strive
for a greater degree of excellence. |
